Post First timer - help needed
Hey,

I'm very very new to this, last weekend I got to thinking that I'd love to have a cable cam to shoot some footage of some white water kayaking.

I jumed out to the garage and in 30mins I came up with this just to see if the idea was worth taking further. (Don't mind the cheap camera on the rig, I just used that incase it all went wrong and it hit the deck)

So after deciding I wanted to take this idea further I sketched up an idea. I wanted it to be both fast on the line and as R/C as possible

The red things you see on the sketch are twin drive motors, the yellow thing is a pendlum counter weight to ease side to side swing.

So after a bit more thinking about it and looking around I see my first design would not include both pan and tilt so I changed it up to look like this.

In my V2 design I reckon my small understanding of electronics will carry me through whats needed to make the r/c work etc. Where I am drawing a blank is how do people engineer or design the swivel / pan section ?

Another thing what is the most effective way to send video signal back to the controler?

I'm not wanting to start making the rig until I'm happy I've got a good design that will work. If anyone has an insight to offer that would be great or if anyone has a working design they would like to let me try make that would be awesome.

Cheers,

Adrian

My advice to you is Keep it as light as possible. As far as how to actually make it, there are too many possibilities, just use aluminum square or round tubing. Your gonna want some sort of smoothe bearing or bushing for the rotation. Im not sure how that pendulum will work, but I have my doubts - looks like extra weight to me.

For a better understanding and more real drawing you can have a look at the Sketchup program from google, its free and really good and i use it for all my designs.
