 Re: stabilization
How would you use a gyro to stabilize it? Im just wondering if a standard RC helicopter gyro would work?? One thing that will make your rig more stable is to make sure the camera rotates around the center of gravity of the camera. After I did this my setup was 500% better as far as jerky-ness.

 Re: stabilization
and good wheels!
The first two versions of my rig used off-the-shelf clothes line pulleys that had a slight wobble to it. This would transfer to the zip line and I would end up with bump footage. I ended up spending $300 on custom machined wheels that use std skate bearings... much, much better now!
I've seen gyros used on other cablecams, but they are expensive to buy ($8k+) and/or rent ($600+/day)..

 Re: stabilization
Very cool - I looked at trying to build one myself, but realized that the precision and rotational speeds required were out of my DIY ability. Sorry my prices were a little off on the Gyros..... http://www.ken-lab.com/html/pricing.htmlKS-8 GYRO KIT: $4,000 KS-8 Weekly Rental: $300.00 Monthly Rental: $750.00
