Re: Motor on board or on ground?
Hi AriborneVideo - Have you given thought about the safety issues when running a cablecam in such an environment?
Typically using a "motor on the ground" is your best best for event coverage because:
You have a reliable power source (i.e. generator or 110 AC)
If for some reason your motor/drive system fail you can manually reel the cablecam back in vs. it being stuck in the middle of the run with dead batteries
Safety and rigging are going to be very important!! With a 300ft line there will be slack even with the main line cranked all the way down. You need to make sure that your main line can support not only the line tension, but also the weight of your cablecam. Any thoughts on what you're going to use for your mainline?
Safety is definitely going to be a serious concern if you can't keep the entire run under your cablecam clear. Even a 1lbs setup falling from just a few feet in the air can *kill* someone!
